San Diego Comic-Con Day 2

I started off my second day of San Diego Comic-Con on the crowded trolley to the convention center where I met an Elsa (Frozen) cosplayer! The ride wasn’t very long—only a few stops from my hotel. I wanted to spend more time inside the convention on this day, but I quickly learned that it’s easy to tire out from walking back and forth and navigating through all the attendees!

My New Home Office Plus Computer Specs!

CES82myWgAAlhZA (1)

The other night I finally cleaned up my home office area (I had a large box of books on my desk), and it looks fantastic! I’ve had this desk in storage for a few years, so I’m excited that I get to use it again. Before moving, my desk didn’t fit in my bedroom, but now that I have a lot more rooms, I have a separate room for my office. I plan on doing a bit more to it still, such as adding some posters, artwork, and bookshelves, and a side table.

My computer tower is on the left side of the desk. It’s very tall and heavy, and aesthetically I prefer it on the ground and out of sight. Additionally, it gives me more room to go behind and mess with any cables if I need to.

My computer specs haven’t changed since I wrote this post about installing my first SSD, but here they are again!

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79
Processor: Intel Core i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
RAM: 16 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti
SSD: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB
Other Hard Drives: 2 x 500GB
Monitor: ASUS VE258 1920 x 1080

I also have a 1200 watt power supply and a water cooler.

I’m pretty satisfied with gaming on just one monitor, but it would be useful to have another monitor so that I could look at other windows while I’m in-game without having to tab out or play in windowed mode.

Other accessories that I have are a Logitech C525 webcam, wireless Logitech (non-gaming) keyboard, Logitech (non-gaming) mouse, Blue Snowball for recording and voice communication, a pink Razer Kraken Pro headset, and some Bose speakers. I need to figure out how to make the microphone on my headset work better, because I’d rather use that than the Snowball for gaming. Also, apparently I’m a big Logitech fan hehe!

I purchased the awesome Tetris lamp when I attended PAX East last year! I also have a few little toys of various fandoms. I have Pinkie Pie (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), a Skyrim Nord, and Chewbacca (Star Wars)!

I’ve gotten a few questions already on social media regarding the desk chair, since it isn’t a typical one. It is pretty comfortable to me, even after gaming for a few hours. In comparison to the desk chair that I’ve been using, which was cheap and is falling apart, my current chair is wonderful!

Cleared New Operations in 8-Man Story Mode!

Temple of Sacrifice Revan

After a few weeks of working on it, my operations team has finally cleared Temple of Sacrifice (ToS) in 8-man story mode! We cleared The Ravagers operation our first day trying it, but for a while we were stuck for a couple days on Sword Squadron (the walkers, second boss in ToS) and then a few operation sessions later we were able to clear the Underlurker (third boss in Tos).  The last two bosses in ToS were fairly easy. We one-shot the Commanders (fourth boss), and we beat the final boss after failing the door boss (Filmadeus was outside and one of our tanks insta-died), and me “experimenting” with cleansing a grenade off. Nope. I killed half our group when I cleansed that grenade in the middle of everyone! I ended up dying on the second phase of our winning pull, so I laid dying while my operations team beat the boss. It looked very cool, so I hope I will survive next week when we do this boss again!

We did not try these operations at all in closed beta. Also, we took a week break for the holidays, so I think we did fine in our operation progression since we only raid twice a week for a few hours! I’m excited to try hard mode tomorrow in both of the operations, which I anticipate will bring us to the edge of frustration and possible rage quitting!

Overall I really like the new operations! It’s refreshing to work on something new after more than a year of Dread Fortress and Dread Palace, and I’m excited to see the more difficult mechanics that hard mode (and later Nightmare!) will bring.

Have you tried out the new operations so far? How do you like them? Let me know in the comments or tweet me @Heather_PLS!

Merry Christmas Pretty Little Sith-ers!

Darth Vader Santa
I wanted to wish all of my readers, listeners, watchers, and followers a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

It has been a great launch year for the Pretty Little Sith blog, and I have fun writing it all the time. I’m thankful for all the insightful comments and feedback, and even for the silent lurkers that read and keep to themselves!

Additionally, I enjoy writing about non-SWTOR subjects also, so I hope you’ve liked the few posts I’ve been sprinkling in here and there on the blog about my non-gaming life. I am very much open to suggestions for blog post topics, so if you’d like to give me a great idea, feel free to contact me via Twitter, e-mail, or simply leave a comment here on this post!

I will be going out of town late tonight, but I will be back on Tuesday hopefully with lots of pictures and a new blog post!

Here’s a fun video you can watch, called “The Sith who Stole Christmas.”

Pre-Christmas Activities + Spotify Christmas Playlist

With Christmas in just a few days, I’m very excited! I have many things to do before then, which will hopefully make the time pass more quickly. The bad part is, when I’m at work I can’t do any of those things, so my time outside of work goes by in a blink!

This weekend we had a Christmas party at my house, and we had a White Elephant gift exchange! I was #1, so I was first to pick a gift, which was a kitchen glassware set (first picture in the post)—not really something I’m interested in as I think I have a lot of kitchenware in storage still. Thankfully, I was able to “steal” another gift at the end, and I ended up with a neck & shoulder massager and a deluxe foot spa. I thought about stealing the Bluetooth speakers, but since I’ve been having headaches, I figured that right now a massager would be better than loud music.

I still have to wrap more gifts, and I’m very satisfied with what I purchased for people, which were basically things that I would like for myself if they were more personalized for me (ex: pajamas in my size and style that I would like). I only ever wrap gifts once a year, and my least favorite part is making sure you cut off the right size for wrapping paper! It’s a pain if you don’t cut enough, or if your piece is too large.

I have not made a gingerbread house yet! I know I said I was going to do this a few weeks ago, but I’ve been so busy! Before the Christmas party on Saturday I was out for most of the morning and early afternoon house hunting. Yesterday I was able to get a lot done, but I inhibited my productiveness for a few hours when I was out with my sister and her family.

Obviously not made by unskilled me, but awesome work!

Tonight I have an operation in SWTOR, and I need to work on my laundry before I go out of town this Friday. Tomorrow I have a spa appointment right after work, and I’m not sure how long it will last. Maybe I will make the gingerbread house on Wednesday, which is Christmas Eve, and I can also bake some cookies!

Cookies I got from a coworker’s kid’s fundraiser.

Lastly, I made a Christmas playlist on Spotify! I was tired of hearing the same traditional songs on the radio, and the Pandora station I was listening to wasn’t making me happy, so I decided to make my own playlist of songs that I liked. If you like pop music, you might like it, and I’ve embedded it here at the bottom of the post!

Long Beach, Aquarium of the Pacific, Geeky Mamas & More!

2014-12-13 16.21.52

This past weekend I went out of town to Long Beach, CA, which I mentioned in my post from a few days ago. While I was there, I visited the Aquarium of the Pacific, which was walking distance from my hotel. If I have the time, I try to visit an aquarium or zoo in the cities that I visit, and I was lucky to have a bit of time to go! I also visited a few other places that we don’t have in Las Vegas, like Porto’s Bakery, IKEA, and a cute “geek boutique” called Geeky Mamas.

Happy Thanksgiving, Last-Minute Leveling, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer/Wallpapers

Thanks Richard for the high-res SW7 wallpapers!

Thanks Richard for the high-res SW7 wallpapers!

I hope everyone is having a good Thanksgiving weekend! I am very thankful for my blog visitors and everyone that has been supporting Pretty Little Sith, Corellian Run Radio, and The Republic. I am also thankful for my guild Despair, who make playing SWTOR more fun than playing alone! This blog is about 10 months old, so I’m very excited to see its progress in that amount of time.

This weekend, I’ve been busy hanging out with family and rushing to get some last minute leveling in before the new SWTOR expansion Shadow of Revan comes out on Tuesday! I should be able to get two more characters to 55. I have a Sniper at level 51, which I should be able to finish in a few hours, and I also have a Scoundrel who’s around level 39 I think. Hopefully I can get her before the end of the weekend. If I am surprisingly successful with those two, then I’ll also work on my Guardian who is level 28.

Anyway, I thought I’d give you guys a little update, as well as embed the new Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens teaser trailer that came out yesterday! I don’t want to give away any “spoilers” if you haven’t watched the teaser trailer  yet yourself, so definitely, definitely watch it! I know this was quite “spoiler-y” but if you click the screen capture of the image above, it will bring you to imgur showing some of the high-res screencaps/wallpapers my friend Richard has put together!

Status Update! Plus Star Wars Parody Video

I’ve been really busy this week entertaining some out of town guests and going to the Ootini Cantina! I’m trying to get some SWTOR gameplay in tonight, so here’s a little video to hold you over until I can write a full report on my Vegas Ootini Staycation! I also have some very super secret, exciting, game-related news to tell you about sometime soon. I actually watched this video last week, but I thought it was very cute and a great parody of a Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.”

Angels & Daemons: New Outfit Pics

XoXaan Armor Set 4

I’ve been talking about this armor set that I purchased that cost me most of my credits, but I haven’t shown you a picture of it! Here are a few pictures of my character wearing the XoXaan Armor Set, which is obtainable from the Star Cluster Nightlife Pack and/or the GTN.

I actually liked a lot of the new armor sets in that pack! I looked up XoXaan to see who in Star Wars lore inspired the armor set, and it turns out that XoXaan was actually a female Sith Lord. She was one of the first of the Sith Lords to defect from the Jedi Order. I thought that was perfect for my Sith Assassin, and that’s ultimately why I decided to spend my credits on this one.

Angels & Daemons

This was a cool, unintentional screenshot of my character and my guildie Daemon by @HealingSwtor. I remarked that it looked like an angel and daemon–thus, the title of today’s blog post.

Daemon Photobomb

Thanks @HealingSwtor for helping with the screenshots and my guildie Daemon for showing up in Korriban just to photobomb me.
